2-LOOK OLL

The OLL (Orientation of the Last Layer) phase in speedcubing is the step where the solver focuses on orienting all the pieces in the top layer so that the top face becomes a single solid color, usually yellow. During OLL, the positions of the pieces do not matter yet - only their orientation. There are 57 standard OLL cases, each with its own algorithm designed to efficiently orient the last layer in one step. Beginners often start with “2-look OLL,” which breaks the process into two simpler steps: first orienting the edges, then orienting the corners. Mastering OLL is crucial for improving solving speed and consistency. Good OLL recognition relies on pattern awareness, finger tricks, and efficient cube handling.
